This is the world of Dark City....

Unlike any you've ever encountered.

I thought Dark City was the best movie of '98.
A visually stunning piece that is sure to become a classic.
It was one of those rare SPFX films where the effects truly complemented the story.
I kept thinking that this is what going to the movies is all about.

Another of my favorite movies that falls in the Film Noir catagory is BLADE RUNNER.
When I saw it in '82, it had a big influence on me. It's another example of beautiful film-making.
Watch it for a lesson in lighting, editing and amazing sound. The movie's director Ridley Scott
re-cut it to include more scenes, got rid of Harrison Ford's narration (even he didn't like it)
and he zapped the sappy happy ending (stupid movie executives!). A score by Vangelis is the
icing on the cake (especially the end theme). Take a look and see what I mean.

Ridley Scott's unique visual style makes him
one of my favorite directors today. He began in commercials
and then moved to film. All his films showcase an attention to detail and love of film. Some of my other favorite films he has made include Alien, Legend, Black Rain, Someone To Watch Over Me, Thelma and Louise, G.I. Jane and Gladiator. I've heard rumours of a Blade Runner sequel too.
